New Plans and Old Pains…

The last couple weeks have consisted of do not’s and donuts…  Not as many donuts…

The hip/ quad/ groin pain is still present, however more bearable. I have checked out of doing all high impact activities like running and I am enjoying the break!

I swam a total of 8,000 meters last week… I was at the cusp of completing 10,000, but drank too much Saturday night and was in no shape to jump into the pool Sunday morning. Believe me, I tried!

I decided it would be much more fun to navigate the dandelion jungle in attempt to win the epic battle of man vs. weed.  I was victorious following a hard-fought, 6 hour combat mission… It was just me, the weed extractor and 6 hours of pushing using only my right foot. I couldn’t use the left, that’s my injured leg!

I did foam roll… Then I got sick of it.

It is easier popping Advil…

This morning I swam 2000 meters consecutively.

I may have changed my plans a little… I am not going to jump directly into an Ironman. I have decided to aim for a half Ironman first and sprint/ Olympic distance races this summer.  I am hoping to complete a half by the fall than hopefully a full by next fall.

I am in the process of purchasing a better bike and plan to continue my current training.

Ironman Muskoka 70.3 September 09th is a new goal… I see it is still open…

Week 8, Florida bound!

That concludes week 8 and unfortunately, I don’t have my stats handy… I tend to calculate and keep track of them as part of work related activities…

As a matter of fact, I DO!

I swam 5500 meters

ran 42 miles

Cycled for 8 hours again this week…

A tiring week, required a couple swim, bike, run days to fulfil all activities. After 4 hours on the bike and a 6 mile run this morning, I have been experiencing slight groin discomfort. I don’t say pain or injury because I have yet to be on a disabled list due to injury… Knock on wood…

Tomorrow I leave on a jet plane for Florida…

Taking at least 2 possibly 3 days off this week…

Going to follow strict carb rules and drink lots of beer and eat lots of junk… I will be a machine next week haha

Cheers

Week number 6

Just a quick update… Week # 6

Swim 5200 meters

Run 42 miles

Bike 7 hrs

I find the longest and hardest part of training is the swimming… 2800 meters swam last Tuesday, I compare to 15-17 miles of running, and it doesn’t go by very quickly.

I will update more late on…

Cheers

Tiring couple days…

I was totally not into yesterday’s workout… At all!

The thought of an 11 mile run and hour spin made me want to punch the wall. Doing this following a day at the office made me want to punch said wall harder. After some convincing and reassurance that it wouldn’t be that bad, I was on my way…

The 11 mile run had gone better than expected, it felt good and could have gone further… Could have, but didn’t…

I arrived at the gym, changed into my cycling clothes, inquired about spin class (was hoping there wasn’t one, but there was) so I cycled 40 minutes before hand, planned on spending 20 minutes with the class, than skipping out. Well that plan was squashed; I ended up cycling for 1.40 enduring the entire class plus the 40 minutes before… I, as well as my legs, was SPENT!

Following the four hours at the gym I arrived home and demolished the cupboards eating everything in sight!

 I love Naan bread…

This morning I ran 8 miles and swam 1600 meters. I experienced some cramping in the pool and remembered I didn’t eat anything prior to running or swimming (bad idea).  I made a coffee, needed the caffeine at 5am, but forgot to eat… My hamstring and the arch of my foot cramped up near the end of my swim and caused excruciating pain! Ouch! I had to walk it out, fluttering around in the water for 5 minutes or so like an idiot.

I think it was a combination; lack of fuel and exhaustion…

 Cheers
